Touring and seeing a country can take time and be tiring. That’s why it’s a good idea to do some low-key activities as well. On your next trip to Israel, be sure to spend time visiting the following museums
The Israel Museum
Set in the center of Jerusalem, the Israel Museum boasts exhibits of Jewish history ranging from ancient artifacts found in the Shrine of the Book, to replicas of synagogues from the Middle Ages, to modern art by contemporary Israeli artists. Spend the whole day exploring the cultural history of the Land of Israel.
Tel Aviv Museum of Art
This museum, located in Tel Aviv, Israel’s cultural capital, exhibits both modern and historic Israeli and international art. In this museum, you will find many different art media: painting, sculpture, prints and drawings, photography, video, installations, and architecture and design.
The first stop for visiting dignitaries, Yad Vashem is the foremost museum for Holocaust remembrance. It combines meaningful educational, research, and inspirational exhibits to honor the memories of those who perished and suffered during the Holocaust. While not an “entertaining” museum, it is certainly one you don’t want to miss.
Design Museum Holon
Different from an art museum, the Design Museum in Holon is an international center for design innovation. The unique steel ribbon design of the building is just one of the many interesting aspects of this place. Go and visit this museum and learn about new Israeli and international design.
Beit Hatfutsot is the Museum of the Diaspora, located on the sprawling Tel Aviv University campus. Its permanent exhibits and temporary ones reflect the history and culture of Jewish life outside of Israel. One of the new exhibits, Heroes, was created to inspire the next generation of youth by introducing cultural heroes including scientists, intellectuals, leaders, revolutionaries, cultural figures, and athletes.
Renting a car in Israel will not only get you from place to place, it will get you there faster. Rent a car so you can enjoy all these museums without wasting time.
