If you are planning a trip to Israel, you may want to stop by and visit Tel Aviv for many reasons: the beaches, the nightlife, the culinary opportunities. But there's more. Tel Aviv is famous for being the culture hub of Israel and is, therefore, the place to go to experience festivals and other cultural events.
White Night Festival (Layla Lavan)
This night at the beginning of every summer is when Tel Aviv shows its true colors. On the night of the festival, stores and restaurants stay open all night and people are allowed to play loud music until all hours. There are indoor and outdoor parties that are open to the public. This is a festival not to be missed.
Opera in the Park
On the side of the Yarkon Park called Ganei Yehoshua, there is a very special evening in September every year called "Opera in the Park." Bring a picnic basket, a blanket, and a bottle of wine so you can enjoy the beautiful sounds of the orchestra and the operatic arias while relaxing and enjoying your dinner.
Sail Tel Aviv
On one weekend in September, you will find various sea and beach activities and events all day, and on all beaches in Tel Aviv. Get ready to see yachts and windsurfing, beach volleyball tournaments, sand art and kite exhibitions, workshops in frisbee, and much more. Don't bother bringing food, as you can get all you want at the beaches.
EPOS International Film Festival
This festival is usually held sometime in March or April, and it juxtaposes the art with cinema for an unusual display of imagination. In addition to being able to watch any of 50 featured films, you can take lessons in acting or listen to a lecture by a renowned artist.
Tel Aviv Marathon
The marathon in Tel Aviv draws over 40,000 participants from all over Israel and, indeed, from all over the world. In the 42K that it takes to complete it, the run will take you all over and around Tel Aviv and even as south a Jaffa.
Fresh Paint Fair
The art fair at the end of May is Tel Aviv's largest art festival of the year, drawing more than 30,000 art lovers every year. It brings together the smallest art galleries with the largest art museums to allow spectators to enjoy all aspects of fine art.
Enjoy your trip to Israel and rent a car to easily get around so you can enjoy all the cultural events and festivals that Tel Aviv has to offer.
